Help Johan's Recovery
Donation protected
It is with deep sadness and regret that we share this tragic news with you:
On February 19, 2020, Johan was walking home when he fell victim to a violent attack. Two assailants attempted to rob him and ultimately threw him from a bridge. He fell colliding with rocks and concrete below.
The fall resulted in traumatic injuries to his brain and spine which will require multiple surgeries and intensive care. He is currently in a coma and has successfully undergone his first brain surgery which has stabilized his condition. He will undergo his first spinal surgery in the upcoming week and likely require additional brain and spinal operations on his road to recovery.
For those of you who do not know Johan, he is a happy, fun, loving, and caring individual. He works with those who are less fortunate, cares for and adopts stray dogs, and is the first to reach out if someone is in need. More importantly, he is a son, brother, uncle, friend, and loved. Although asking for assistance would never be in his or his family’s nature, the medical expenses are placing a financial burden that they cannot weather alone.
With a heavy heart, we are asking for help from the community and his loved ones to ensure that Johan continues to receive the care he so desperately needs. We will graciously accept any donation large or small and ask that you also pray for his full recovery.
On behalf of Johan and his family, we thank you immensely for your thoughts, prayers, and financial contributions.
Update 2/28/2020:
It is with great sadness and regret that I am writing to inform you that Johan succumbed to his injuries on 2/26/2020. He will be remembered by his loving friends and family. We ask that you continue to pray for Johan and we'll be leaving this page available for those who wish to donate. His sister, Alicia Hauck , will be transferring your donations to their mother, Sandra Velasco , in the coming days. Your contributions will go directly towards the medical expenses that were incurred. Thank you once again for your heart felt messages and support.
