My name is Johanna Peterson. I am a single mom of two grown sons and a cancer survivor. Through my career as realtor, I have found joy helping many families find their perfect first home or helped others sell their home in order to move onto the next chapter in their life. I find myself in this chapter of my in a very difficult and uncomfortable situation now of having to ask for help in financial assistance.

In late Winter/early Spring of 2022, I went to the doctor thinking I merely had some sort of cold or flu bug. After several weeks I was referred to an Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist. They found a mass that didn't belong. After hearing the Doctor order a CT Scan Stat, and going straight from his office to the Hospital, in the back of my mind I knew. After many tests and biopsies of the neck area they diagnosed that I had stage 4 non-surgical tonsil cancer. It had metastasized to both my tongue and the lymph nodes on the left side of my neck. The only option for immediate treatment was aggressive chemotherapy and radiation. As you can imagine, it has been a long and painful process. With Prayer, Strength and Great Support today I'm cancer free.

My goals for 2023 were very high and positive and I thought obtainable. Getting off all the medications. Rebuilding my immune system, strengthen my neck, throat, and body to get back to work. I thought I had it all under control! However life had a different plan. In Spring/Summer 2023 I experienced a setback in my healing process. I had an aneurysm in my throat that let loose. It was a terrifying time for myself, my family and care team. Fortunately, I was able to pull through.

My physical strength, eating and drinking ability, speech, hearing, and vision have all been affected. I don’t want to forget the extensive dental work done and needs to be done. I am currently in treatment, physical therapy and pain management to hopefully regain enough strength to return to normal day to day activities. As I focus on my recovery and treatment, I'm reaching out with a humble request. The financial strain of medical and living expenses during this time has added another layer of stress. Balancing medical bills, treatments, and daily costs has been overwhelming.
