I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! It’s been a while since I’ve posted an update, so as the New Year approaches, I figured it would be a good time to provide an update on my status.
First, I just want to say that I am so grateful for every person who has supported me through this difficult time in my life. Whether you supported me financially, with a thoughtful text/phone call and/or prayed for me, I thank you immensely! I am keenly aware that this has been a challenging season for so many people. For most of this year we were all reeling from the effects of the COVID pandemic, yet you all still supported me and my journey through cancer treatment! For that level of care and selflessness, I am extremely humbled and beyond blessed. It means a lot to have such incredible support.
Due to cancer treatments and COVID, I have been out of work for over a year now. Up to this point, I have been able to maintain my employee health insurance through COBRA, though at significant cost each month. In the first few months of the new year, I will have 1 more chemo cycle (my final cycle!), an MRI, and port removal. Because of the timing of these procedures, I will have to renew my COBRA insurance. This means my $4,500 deductible will reset, and the cost of these procedures will fall on me to cover until my deductible has been met. I am grateful that I will be able to start working again this coming July, but in the meantime, I still have no income to cover these additional medical expenses. Would you consider supporting me through this last hurdle? I really appreciate your words of encouragement, thoughtful messages and prayers! If you are in a position to help financially and feel so led, I also greatly appreciate your financial support!
"On Tuesday, 9/24/19, I was diagnosed with a cerebellar mass. I had surgery on 9/26/19, and have been blessed with an incredibly fast-paced recovery so far (praise God!). I was told I could wake up blind due to the nature of the procedure—I can see. I was told it would take 1-6 months to regain coordination—I could walk independently within 24 hours. I was so fortunate to be able to go home ~48 hours after my surgery. Only God.
On 10/3/19 I was diagnosed with cancer-medulloblastoma (apparently exceedingly rare in adults). I can now speak from experience—God’s peace surpasses all understanding. I’m sitting here in the valley of the shadow of death, and I truly fear nothing. Only God".
