John & Alana's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hello friends,
I am one of Alana's lifelong friends, and I was most recently her matron of honor. I wanted to start this fund to help make things a bit easier on them as they currently deal with a major life challenge.
John and Alana were very recently married on April 7, 2018.
They were honeymooning in Bora Bora, when the unthinkable happened.
Friday, April 20, the day before they were headed back home to start their new life as Mr. and Mrs. Knight, John had an accident and fractured his C-7 vertebrae and had to have emergency surgery. He was taken on a boat gurney to the airport, and flown on an emergency medical plane to the main island of Tahiti, as Bora Bora doesn't have a real hospital.
He is now currently in ICU in a hospital in Tahiti and is stable, but has to have major oxygen treatments for an hour every 4 hours as he's not using his lungs properly at the moment.
The doctors are also encouraging him to cough to remove stuff from his lungs to avoid infection and/or complications.
He can't move his left leg much, but we are hoping this will improve. He suffered major spinal chord trauma.
Although John has insurance, they are uncertain if any of his expenses will actually be covered, and that is a naturally causing a great deal of stress.
John and Alana have a long road ahead. They will need to get back to the states and most likely will need medical assistance on the flight consisting of a nurse and a medical doctor, especially if John still needs oxygen treatments. Their flights home will also have to come out of pocket.
They do not have anymore paid time off, as they used it up for their honeymoon.
We are asking for anything you can give to help take some of the financial burden off of these newlyweds.
We have no idea when they will be able to come home, and Alana is staying in a hotel across the street from the hospital, but paying out of pocket for this as well.
Please consider contributing; even if it's a small amount. If you cannot donate, PLEASE forward this and help spread the word, and send a prayer instead.
John and Alana appreciate all the love and support--they can feel it from afar.
They thank you from the bottom of their hearts for your generosity and kindness.
With love & gratitude,
Dori Lancaster
