John Carlos Run 4 Humanity

Last Year we Raised our Goal & was able to bring the community together for a successful event! Thank you to everyone who contributed. 

Here’s what the JC 4 Humanity team plans to bring to you this year over the span of 3 days  Sept. 21-23:

• College Tour 
• One Love Panel 
• Sneaker Ball / Gala 
• Run/ Walk 
• Community event ! 

The John Carlos 4 Humanities team understands the importance of empowering our community. It takes a village to help youth and young adults become their best selves. That’s why we’ve partnered with Hampton University’s Student Counseling Center to bring a week of goods centered towards, Suicide Awareness and Mental Health for this years community event. You can help too! 

 This year, The John Carlos 4 Humanity team is seeking sponsors and partners to help make this annual event a success. There are several ways to contribute: sponsorship, becoming a vendor, or volunteering. All proceeds will not only cover the community event, but they will provide college student gifts and create scholarship opportunities. No matter the capacity of your contribution, we look forward to seeing you at one of our events.

At a time when the country was divided, John Carlos made a political stand that made headlines and sent shock waves around the world. As a new Olympic medalist of 1968, he quickly became the world’s fastest humanitarian. His protest at the ceremonial podium became a historical symbol of the fight for human rights and he even has a statue in the African American Museum. Mr. Carlos has made it his mission to make a positive impact on humanity by giving back to the community. The John Carlos Foundation for Humanity based in Georgia has hosted similar events to increase the bond of humanity. As an extension of his legacy; his grandson and other local community partners strive to strengthen that bond.

To honor Dr. John Carlos, we need your support to bring the community together. Leading up to the run, we will be accepting nominations for local unsung heroes to be recognized for their service to their community. Along with unsung heroes, rising senior athletes will be recognized for their accomplishments and two athletes will be awarded a scholarship. This community run is not only a chance to recognize local heroes but to use them and the scholarships to inspire the young athletes to further their educational and athletic goals. The generous participation of guests and sponsors help continue the John Carlos legacy by building the scholarship fund for generations to come.
