It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Carter. John left this world and joined he wife Sheri in the early morning hours of March 1, 2017. He was born April 10, 1955, first-born son of Robert and Darleene Carter. On August 5, 2001 John was united in marriage to Sheri McLeod until her departure in 2013.
John was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America. A passionate leader within the organization, John was devoted to mentoring and teaching the boys and young men of the Boy Scouts, earning several awards in recognition of his dedication to the growth and development of the scouting community and it's members.
John was a loving father and husband. He was extremely proud of his son Steven for earning the Eagle Scout Award, his successful career in engineering and for achieving his goal of accomplishing the Iron Man Triathelon. He was also proud of his daughter Chelsea, supporting her goals of earning the Spartan Trifecta and traveling with her to races in Michigan and Ohio.
John is survived by his loving children: Chelsea and Steven Carter; his sisters Darleene, Sandi, and Darcy; and his brother, Don. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Darleene Carter; and his wife, Sheri Carter.
Following Sheri's death in 2013, John's health rapidly declined. Due to his medical bills John's family needs help providing for funeral expenses. Unfortunately we have no money set aside for his funeral costs and while I don't want anything extravagant, I don't want to give my father any less than he deserves. He was a loving, caring man who always put the needs of others ahead of his own. Thank you to everyone who has had our family in your thoughts and prayers these last few months, I know there are many of you out there.
