We sadly lost John Deakin on July 16th due to complications resulting from paralysis. He was an amazing Father, Grandfather, Uncle and Brother to his family and we all miss him dearly.
The loves of his life were his wife, Joan, and his twin sons, Jonathan and Martin. And he had that special bond only a Grandfather can have with his beautiful Granddaughters, Ebony and Brook.
From humble beginnings he worked extremely hard and had a long and successful career with British Nuclear Fuels. He regularly worked at Sellafield in Cumbria and this sparked his love for the Lake District, where he retired with Joan to the beautiful village of Sedgwick. They were never happier than when up on the fells with their Old English Sheepdogs. More recently they enjoyed trips to Kirby Lonsdale and they loved sitting at one of the cafes with a coffee. Heartbreakingly it was on one of their trips to Kirby Lonsdale where John suffered a fall in August 2023 which left him paralysed. Unsurprisingly, his primary concern was for the family and he always had a list of jobs to be completed when we visited him. He fought so hard for a year but sadly passed on August 6 2024. The Lakes became Johns spiritual home and his wish was to be laid to rest at Beetham Church.
Throughout his life he devoted himself to his family and many of you will know that brain cancer research was a cause that was extremely important to him. For that reason we would like to raise funds in his memory. Any donations are very much appreciated.
