John Gallagher's Family

Last Wednesday, my husband John drove himself to the emergency room because he was having trouble breathing. His heart stopped, CPR was started immediately, and he has been in ICU since. The injury to his brain from the lack of oxygen is significant, and he will not be able to survive without the ventilator and other invasive measures. We have started saying goodbye.

It's going to take me a while to catch up and take over all of the things that John was doing for our family. About a year ago, I started my own business and he was quietly doing everything to make that possible--working a full time job and providing our health care coverage, taking care of Sam's needs for school and sports, all the carpools, being the available person for Jake and his fiance Chelsea, everything.

I'm hoping to cover a few months of living expenses, and I haven't even started to consider the larger looming expenses we will be dealing with later.
