John Hanson 24 hour Bike ride "Jazzie's Journey"
Jasmine is 18 years old and has attended Icknield special needs school in Andover for all of her school life. Jasmine has Retts syndrome (neurological disorder) and the mentality of a 3-year-old. She also has various other physical disabilities and needs constant 1:1 care. She is a very happy girl and ready to take the next stage of her journey through leaving school and accessing a college. For our young people at John Hanson Community School, this is a right of passage and the options for them are vast.
This is not the case for Jasmine and her friends.
In September, Jasmine and her 9 friends hope to be starting a new, much needed, special needs course at Andover College. Our students have set themselves the target of raising of £10,000 to help provide the specialist equipment needed to support this independent living course.
Event
On Thursday 30th September at 3pm, 4 teams of John Hanson staff and students consisting of 3 members each (1 male staff team, 1 female staff team, 1 male student team and 1 female student team) will be taking part in a 24-hour bike ride to raise money for “Jazzie’s Journey”. The teams will set off virtually from John Hanson to Minehead, before riding a loop of the South West, reaching milestones of Jazzie’s favourite holiday destinations such as Croyde Bay, Polzeath and St Ives.
