John Hunt Cancer Treatment Fund
Aloha
John Hunt, a beautiful father, grandfather, brother and friend to many has been challenged with battling Stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma which has metastasized to his bones. At first chemotherapy is what seemed to be what would put the disease at bay; but over the past 6 months the cancer has proven to be much stronger and resilient to the treatments. John's daughter, Amy, and many family and friends have dedicated their time and support with overcoming the many health obstacles given with this aggressive disease.
John Hunt has to be one the most selfless human beings with a very passive and sweet personality and he would never be the one to ask for help, yet always be first to offer help without looking for anything in return. John helped raise his daughter as a single dad, and poured all his energy into giving her the tools in life to succeed both as an adult and a loving mother. It is a priceless trait that only shows his love and respect for others around him.His young grandson Haven benefits tremendously from being able to spend time with him, having him as a Grandfather to look up to, and follow in his footsteps.
John also happens to be one of the original band members of “The Surf Punks” from southern California, as well as a roadie for bands like Spirit, Albert Hammond, and even toured with Rod Stewart. The stories he shares are timeless and he always loves to sit down and go through memories of what it was like during his era. John has lived on Kauai since 1978, has played in many local bands and happened to be one of Kauai’s premier sound technicians for many local events, as well as known to be the person “to go to” to have your guitar worked on. Often times John will work on other musicians' equipment looking for nothing in return except for the satisfaction to see the happiness when they were able to make music again. Once again a very selfless person which is extremely admirable! John is a true legend!
After 6 months of the chemotherapy only suppressing the cancer at a minumum, it is time to try a different treatment. John's Oncologist has recommended that he try Molecular Profiling in order to move forward but this comes with a treatment cost of $30,000.00 out of pocket and his insurance won't cover any of it. John is such a loving, passionate and sincere person; any support possible would be a blessing and very appreciated. John is fighting hard and he is not giving up which is why we feel like we need to support him and help make this option a reality. The goal is to give him more time with his family and friends, without pain, in a cancer free environment!
Mahalo for all your kind words and support.
