John Kowalczyk's Lung & Brain Cancer Battle

Update: Unfortunately John passed away on Friday. He fought a hard battle but he’s finally at peace. If you could find it in your heart to help Heather and the kids, I would appreciate it.

John Kowalczyk was diagnosed with colon and liver cancer in February 2019. He found out in August 2020 that it had moved to his lungs. Over the course of the last 4 1/2 years, he has endured over 100 intense chemotherapy treatments. He is currently being treated by the Oncology department at Northwestern Hospital. He has been in two different clinical trials but with not much success. During all of this, he continued to work full time. He is a Cook County Sheriff's police officer. A few weeks ago, he started having difficulty walking, blurred vision and dizzy spells. He had to go in immediately for an emergency MRI. Unfortunately, he found out that it had traveled to his brain. He is currently undergoing radiation treatment for the tumors in the brain. Due to the progression of the disease, he is no longer able to work at this time.

John has been married to Heather for over 25 years. They have 4 beautiful children, Emily 22, John 20, Chrissy 17, and Nick 15. They currently live in Lockport. John is my oldest son. I am organizing this to help out the family.

He is waiting for the radiation treatment to finish to determine the next course of treatment. We are asking for any donation to help offset expenses. We greatly appreciate your prayers, love, and donations to support John, Heather, Emily, John, Chrissy and Nick.
