John Landino Funeral and Other Expenses
Donation protected
Hi,
This is John's wife, Laura Roberts. As most of you may have heard, John was in critical condition in MGH ICU after a 13-hour surgery to remove part of his liver due to aggressive metastatic bile duct cancer. This cancer tends to have no symptoms and is usually diagnosed by the time people are stage 4. Unfortunately, he unexpectedly passed away yesterday, Tuesday Feb. 8th due to complications from the surgery.
I am so grateful we were together 27 amazing years. We frequently discussed how lucky we were and what a gift it was that he survived esophageal cancer for 8 years. While he lay dying, I talked to him about his Heaven - that in his Heaven, he'd be painting and sculpting constantly, playing music onstage to a crowd of fans, having a normal stomach again so he could eat mounds of pasta, and kayaking forever on the Connecticut River he loved so much.
We always lived on the edge for the most part, hand to mouth, and have no savings to speak of. We were so happy together and in our lives that we didn't mind being low income. I saw in the hospital notes from the social worker and rabbi that he discussed the possibility of death and said he was at peace with dying but was extremely worried about what would happen to me. If the shoe were on the other foot (and how I wish it was), I would have felt the same way for him. I hope you can help me out in this time with John's funeral expenses and other household expenses I have to face on one income. It's hard for me to ask for help, I was the stoic one in our relationship, but I have no choice. John and I thank you for the bottom of our hearts.
