John McPherson Scott

John McPherson Scott passed away unexpectedly on October 4, 2023, at the age of 68.

John was the son of Norman and Barbara Scott. He is survived by his wife, Keren Sue Scott and his children, Clayton Erwin Atkins Scott and step-daughter Lauren Joy Kalena Bolos. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara Scott, three bothers, Norman, Bill, and Steve, his sister, Kathy Powell, half-sister Alex Scott Cunningham, along with several nieces and nephews, including Ryland Powell, Gifford Scott, Sue Scott-Pangle and her son, Brooks Scott Pangle, and Max and Ben Cunningham. Family was important to John. He loved nothing more than seeing everyone at family gatherings.

John was born on November 23, 1954 in Richmond, VA. He grew up on Sullivans Island with his three brothers and sister where he roamed the beach and marshes, rode horses, fished, surfed and sailed.

John graduated from Clemson University with a degree in civil engineering. During his career he traveled to every state but North Dakota.

John loved home projects, nature, helping and mentoring children, and donating to the less fortunate. Most of all, he loved his family.

On John’s behalf, the family is accepting donations for the Special Olympics in South Carolina. This was John’s favorite charity to support.
