John Meek Recovering Life
Hello, my name is John. I am currently in a nursing facility undergoing physical therapy to overcome balance related mobility issues caused by a history of concussions and alcohol use. To complicate things I am also recovering from recent retina reattachment eye surgery that will, hopefully, restore vision in my left eye.
When I am discharged from the nursing facility I have no home to go to. Nor do I have any money to secure safe shelter. I am 61 years old. I lived a good life until 9 years ago. I was blessed with a great family and successful in business. Now I am alone, broke, and essentially homeless. I need short term help with money for living expenses (rent, food, transportation) so I can rebuild my life and help others avoid the destruction the disease of alcoholism will cause if not addressed early.
I recently completed a 3 month residential alcohol recovery program, where I learned the neuro-science of the disease, enhanced my spirituality, and gained tools to keep my sobriety. The majority of clients in the program were young adults in their twenties. I want to help young people before the addictions overpower and destroy their lives. Sharing my story at recovery meetings, blogging, and ultimately writing a book is how I will help. I can only do that with your helping me to pay my costs of living until my health returns to the point where I gain meaningful employment.
Any amount of money you can help me with is received with deeply sincere gratitude. And I promise to pay it forward.
