John Mooney - A Man of Great Character
August 31, 2023

To those who have graciously participated, I have a message from Suzanne Mooney: I have seen the GoFundMe post and am so grateful for the donations. It is like a weight lifted off my shoulders. I can’t tell you how unreal the last 2 weeks have been. I really appreciate all the love and support! From the bottom of our hearts, we say thank you!!

I appreciate the 36 People who have given $1.00 or more. I wish to acknowledge the Two (2) Tails of Sums:

  • $25 from an Anonymous Donor brought tears of joy to me. Personally, I have been in a position where $25 is what I could responsibly give and fit the occasion. I gave it to pay my respects and to join the team.

  • $10,000 from an Anonymous Donor stopped my heart for 2 seconds. Because of this impact, Suzanne will not need to move from her apartment home.

It is not too late to broadcast this GoFundMe, e.g. Donations are expected late next week. Feel free to continue sharing GoFundMe with John’s many admirers across the United States Naval Academy (“Annapolis”), the United States Marine Corps, University of Southern California, Stanford Graduate School of Business, Goldman Sachs, St Mary Catholic Church, and many others.

Please continue to share the news of John’s passing and this GoFundMe opportunity.

I will see Suzanne at John’s Funeral later today. I will hold all y’all in my heart.

Fondly yours,
Mary Ng (& Mark Schwartz)

John Mooney - A Man of Great Character
August 25, 2023

At the 25th GSB Reunion, I had the distinct “responsibility” to set John Mooney straight on his mobile app: BarBug. He had invented this geo-location tool for people to bar crawl to the liveliest bars as tagged by real-time customers. While he listened intently, John rebutted EVERY Single Comment I had to offer from my “know-it-all” real-world tech career. I first assumed that he had hired someone to create it, but no. He had personally developed most of BarBug. Much later, I learned that he also had a Masters in Information Technology from the University of Southern California (USC)… not the last delightful discovery about what made John tick!

Now, I am very sad that John is no longer a short drive or phone call away from me. I have also learned about a distress situation, hence, this GoFundMe solicitation to you.

Mark Schwartz has been in close contact with John’s Widow: Suzanne Mooney. The shocking loss of John has presented Suzanne with some significant financial challenges during her time of grief. First, there are the unanticipated medical and funeral expenses. In addition, they have been dependent on monthly checks from the US Veterans Administration Disability Program to cover their monthly apartment rental expenses. These disability payments have ceased. John’s other military and Social Security payments are minimal. Thus, Mark and I decided to start a GoFundMe for The Mooney Family in order to support Suzanne’s ability to continue living in her California apartment near 3 of the Mooney Children, including the 2 youngest ones.

Please consider participating at any level to support John’s Beloved Wife and Children.

Note that The Mooney Family has requested a GoFundMe participation in lieu of funeral flowers. They greatly appreciate all of your love, kind words, and support.

Thank you,

Mary Ng (& Mark Schwartz)
