HELP!! WW1 Veteran John Nagle needs a Headstone
Donation protected
Hi my name is Renee and I'm fund-raising to get my great grandfather WW1 Veteran a headstone for his grave so he will be remembered for his bravery & service to his country when people walk by or future family generations go to visit
John Nagle was a Sargent in a Middlesex regiment for the British Army who saw active service in the boer war in south Africa & fought in WW1 in Belgium, he was Gassed with Mustard Gas and was greatly affected by this, After moving to Australia for a warmer climate for his health he died of stomach cancer at the age of 52 in Sydney Australia in 1935
John was buried without a headstone buried at a time when Australia was going through one of the worse depressions & time were tough, his grave is bare nothing there to say who he is and that he is a ww1 veteran
After contacting the commonwealth war graves I was told I would have to fund it myself they had no programs that would help pay which is disappointing considering he fought for his country
I simple cannot afford to pay for this and would love to honor his memory & service to his country, I'm not asking for anything big or fancy just a small plaque which is mounted on a small concrete block, the cementry has quoted me $1,200 for everything the plaque, stone block & writing
It would be honoured to restore his identity, when we say 'Lest we Forget' we mean it and remember them
