John Patrick Eaves Memorial Fund
Donation protected
John Eaves, a devoted father, husband and grandfather passed away on November 19, 2018 after an eight-year battle with leukemia that resulted from his exposure to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam. John's life was one of service and bravery: he was the recipient of five medals, including two purple hearts, for his service and served as a firefighter and EMT in Minneapolis for 20 years. Most recently, John served as a primary caregiver for the light of his life, his only grandson, Rom Stanley DesJardins ("Rommy"), who will turn four in December. John highly valued education. He was a voracious reader and loved to learn. He enlisted in the army to serve his country and to pay for college and it was always his wish that Rommy would have the opportunity to further himself without having to tie it to such a sacrifice-- one that ultimately took John's life. John was a remarkable human being and an example for us all. He was kind, generous, humble, selfless, funny and devoted. To honor John's memory, his family is setting up this fund for Rommy's education. We know nothing would make John happier. Thank you for reading about this wonderful man and for making a donation in his memory.
