John Paul Kukor

Hi, my name is Jonathan (Jon) Kukor, and I am fundraising for my late father, John Paul Kukor. As many of you know, John passed away at the end of October. Unfortunately, John had fallen on hard times and had no money. I started this fundraiser as a means to send John off and to remember his life properly.

Many describe John as one of the nicest people they'd ever met. The staff at his apartment building knew him. I remember as a child, I found it quite annoying that John would befriend the cashier at Giant, the person checking us in at the rec center before we went swimming, or just any person who happened to cross paths with. Obviously, as an adult, I gained respect for this quality. Many others recognized this in John and valued his friendship.

John was a military veteran. He served in the United States Air Force for approximately 16 years, which brought him to Andrews Air Force base in the DC area in the late 1960s. One of John's service highlights was his time stationed in Japan, where he spoke in front of the crowned Prince of Japan.

John left the military to marry my mother. He began a career selling life insurance. His personality helped him win multiple trips and distinguished himself as a top salesperson. He did very well in the 1980s, prior to my parent's separation in 1990.

John went on to marry several other times and continued to work in insurance. However, after his first divorce, he could never achieve the success he previously had. His current wife, Florencia Suralta, suffered a terrible fall at work in 2015, nearly killing her. As a result, she was never able to work again.

This put an additional financial strain on John and Flo. When John passed away, I discovered how dire things were financially for him.

I've started this campaign to achieve several goals. I will be completely transparent in my intentions. The campaign is to pay for his cremation, memorial service, a celebration of life, burial (if the goal is achieved), and travel expenses for me to oversee this process from Florida to VA.

I want to send off John in the manner he deserves. I thank you for any donation to this campaign and invite you to attend the ceremonies.
