John Prine Tribute Album for New City Arts Fund

There has been so much suffering during the pandemic, so much loss. After we lost the legendary songwriter John Prine to Covid in April, I reached out to some amazing Central Virginia musicians who I'm also proud to call friends. After figuring out the logistics of recording safely, we've put together a very special tribute album. With YOUR support, a double LP will be released this spring (target date is late April or May), and you can secure your copy in the process. Think of it like a pre-order, so our cause gets the money even quicker.  

You'll be supporting the New City Arts Fund (who has distributed over $48,000 to local artists of all kinds since March) and Blue Sprocket in Harrisonburg who is making & mastering the LPs (and suffered major damage at their Sound recording studio back in October after a gas explosion nearby). Just to be clear, the former is a non-profit, the latter is for-profit. My goal is based on an approximate 50/50 split between production costs (making & mastering the LPs & securing the royalty rights) and the New City fund, where local artists apply for help to be distributed according to need.  

John Kelly, Devon Sproule, Sally Rose, Koda from Chamomile & Whiskey, Kai & Bram from Lord Nelson, Michael Clem, Davina & Brennan of Wild Common, Thomas Gunn, Susan Munson, The Pollocks, Rob Cheatham, Boxed Lunch, FarAway & Emily Kresky are all part of this outstanding collection of songs.  And there may be a couple more surprise acts to be announced...thank you to Ellis Paul for the Prine drawing, Dave Stipe for production & Rockfish know-how, and James McLaughlin & Rusty Speidel for recording equipment & production expertise.

$50 limited-edition double-LP upon release in spring
