Dear friends, family, film lovers -

Our names are Missy Keating and Andre Orozco. We are in the midst of creating our passion project, JOHN, a short film written by Andre Orozco.

The video above is a curated journey of the colors, shots, music and feelings that John will take you on. It features films that have inspired our short and we believe that is what art is all about. We hope John not only tells a story that moves audiences but also inspires artists to create.

SYNOPSIS:

JOHN is a romantic thriller following, Nineteen-year-old Calvin’s chance encounter with thirty-five-year-old John leads to a fiery tryst at John’s remote family cabin. But by morning, John has vanished without a trace. Desperate for answers, Calvin contacts John’s sister, Ali. As the three converge, family secrets unravel and Calvin soon realizes he’s tangled in an alluring web of deceit and desire—where nothing is as expected.

Andre's goal when creating this film was to create three dimensional characters especially since this short film features gay characters, his goal was to make sure their sole conflict wasn't their sexuality but instead looking beyond that; which hasn't been done many times on screen.

However, every film has a great team behind it & every team member that joins our project needs to be fed, sheltered and paid properly for their time. Our team will include passionate, lighting designers, sound mixers, gaffers, hair and makeup artists, costume designers & production assistants. Our goal is to create a positive and professional film set and to do that, the cost is costly. With your help we have the chance to do just that.

The Cabin also plays a big role in the film. The Cabin is where John and Calvin's love affair is born. It is where John and Ali's arch comes to a boil. The Cabin unveils John and Ali's past. To bring The Cabin to life we not only need to pay property fees but also the insurance to make sure not only the team is safe but The Cabin is as well.

OUR TEAM:

Hazel McKibbin is an award-winning British-American director who will be directing "JOHN". Hazel is a BAFTA Newcomer and received the Princess Grace Award Honoraria in Film. She holds an MFA in Screenwriting and Directing from Columbia University. Her directorial debut Doublespeak premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and her second short She Always Wins premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival.

Our (Executive Producer/ Colorist) John Conroy is an exceptional cinematographer, With more than 90 productions under his belt, some including 'Penny Dreadful', 'Luther' and 'The Happy Prince'. John recently finished shooting 'Zero Day' with Robert De Niro, and is currently shooting season 2 of the Netflix phenomenon 'Wednesday'.

Michael Epp who will be playing John Fitzpatrick, is a German actor, spending most of his time in New York. His credits include the Venice film festival winner "Childhood of a leader", Amazon's "Jack Ryan" and Marvel's "Secret invasion". Although also working in the German film market his focus stayed on international films such as "The Beekeeper" where he stars opposite Jason Statham in one of the lead roles which went on to be Nr 1 in theaters world wide. Next up he can be seen opposite Adrien Brody in "The Brutalist" directed by Brady Corbet. For Guy Ritchie's "Fountain of youth" he reunited with Jack Ryan's John Krasinksi and Natalie Portman.

Brian Long is an award-winning film producer and an Obie-winning theater producer. His films include, “A Tree. A Rock. A Cloud.”, “Life After You”, "A Stage of Twilight," and the recently shot feature, “Crybaby Bridge,” which is currently in post-production. “A Stage of Twilight” has screened at film festivals all across North-America and premiered at Woods Hole Film Festival. The film stars Karen Allen ("Raiders of the Lost Ark") and William Sadler ("The Shawshank Redemption"). Brian served as Managing Director of Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre in New York City for nine years where he produced over 40 World Premieres by artists such as Annie Baker, Jesse Eisenberg, Adam Rapp, Craig Lucas, Jose Rivera, Heidi Schreck and Jonathan Tolins.

The writer of this short Andre Orozco is a very talented actor and screenwriter who has studied at New World School Of The Arts, Pace University and New York University. This story means a lot to him as his biggest goal is to bridge the gap in the industry and tell stories about gay lives where their sole conflict isn't their sexuality.

Missy Keating, an Irish actress. In her younger years she worked on some incredible productions. Lead role in DARK TOUCH, a horror film that premiered in the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival. Also supporting roles in THE SEA with Ciaran Hinds and Sinead Cusack and GOLD with Maisie Williams.
