Dear Friends and Community,

We come to you with heavy hearts and a plea for help. Our dear friend Pete Blaz has been on a heartbreaking journey alongside his partner, John Skinner, as John bravely battled throat and stomach cancer. We have witnessed Pete's unwavering love and dedication throughout this difficult time, but now he needs our support more than ever.

The journey began with John's diagnosis and subsequent medical treatments but soon took a devastating turn when John experienced health complications from a hernia repair to unexplained symptoms of discomfort and pain. John's health deteriorated rapidly. Numerous hospital visits yielded no definitive answers until, tragically, he was diagnosed with throat cancer.

Despite the tireless efforts of medical professionals, John's condition continued to worsen. Stomach cancer was added to the list of afflictions, and his ability to swallow vanished, leaving him in a state of profound suffering. As the months passed, his health declined further, and the burden of medical expenses grew.

With great sadness, we share that John's journey has now ended after a week and a half in hospice and still trying to fight; John succumbed to his illnesses and despite all efforts, his condition has never improved, and he passed on Wednesday, March 6th. His partner Pete never left his side. Always there to let him know how much he was loved while trying not to break down and be a pillar of strength for John while he himself was crumbling silently inside.

This GoFundMe campaign aims to alleviate the financial strain on Pete during this trying time. The funds raised will go towards covering medical expenses not covered by insurance, final arrangements, and upcoming tax obligations. Pete has been unable to work as he has dedicated himself to caring for John and being by his side until the very end.
