John "Sunny" Cone

Hi, I’m James "JimBob" Cooper, and I’m fundraising for Monica Cone, the wife of John "Sunny" Cone. Sunny and I met at Mercer University in Macon, GA. He was a class of ‘82 graduate. After college, he lived in Atlanta and St. Louis before moving to his mother's home in Perry, FL. Sunny was a Baptist Preacher's son, an entertaining, close friend to many people at Mercer, business colleagues, and his most recent hometown of Perry, Fl. Sunny was a spiritual man and loyal brother of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He is survived by his loving wife Monica Reed Cone. In recent years, he suffered from the sudden passing of his first wife, Susan Greer Cone. Also, his mother developed severe Alzheimer’s and is currently in a care facility. Sunny was injured in a few falls, causing concussions and memory loss. He developed several additional health problems that prevented him from working to his full potential. The Covid Pandemic was devastating to his business. Monica could not work as she spent much time assisting Sunny with his work and medical issues.

Sunny passed quietly in hospice care on September 16th with Monica by his side.

Monica could use assistance with medical bills and debts accrued during his illness. Sunny had requested cremation, and that request is being honored in place of a funeral. Discussions are ongoing regarding a Celebration of Life event in Macon on the November 12th weekend, and we will publish information accordingly.
