Final Medical Expenses for John Teehan

Hello everyone. I’m Amber Bliss, and I am raising funds to support John Teehan’s wife, Margaret Teehan and their young son, Jack as they address his medical and final expenses. John passed away February 23rd 2023 after a severe stroke earlier in the week. He passed cared for and loved, with Margaret at his side.

I have had the incredible privilege of being John’s Dungeon Master for our biweekly game of Dungeons & Dragons at the West Warwick Public Library these past few years. John was an OG–Original Gamer. When I launched the D&D program at the library two people showed up to the first session, a young man who’s name I can’t remember because he only came to a couple sessions, and John Teehan. John was a light at the table and within the gaming and library communities. He was so funny (people who start off playing swashbuckler rogues usually are) but he was also so kind and welcoming and warm. John was the guy at the table always welcoming new players, and quiet players, engaging with them, buying into their stories and characters and looking for opportunities to set them up for great moments. His humor was so good natured. John was also a writer and storyteller and a brilliant RPG map maker. He was a creative and energetic spirit. He had a kind and gentle heart and an open mind. He made connections with people, all kinds of people, people similar and different than him though shared love, love of gaming, storytelling, art, and love of people. He so, so loved Margaret and his son, Jack. Jack was the light of his world, and I had the humbling privilege of witnessing that every time he brought Jack into the library or I saw him run into the frame on a D&D Zoom session.

John was in many ways the very best of what the gaming community can be, and I know I can speak for all those who knew and played with him when I say the empty space at the game table and in our hearts will never be fully filled.

In order to ease one of the many burdens that come with the passing of a loved one all raised funds will go to Margaret. Margaret will be providing updates on John’s service as they are made on her Facebook page for friends and family.
