Expenses for Cremation and Services for John Terry
Donation protected
On Tuesday Afternoon, our brothers life was cut short when a medical event caused him to go through a stop sign and be hit by an oncoming vehicle. Thankfully the other driver didn’t have any substantial injuries, but John died instantly. John was a hard worker and worked as a janitor at Porter Hospital for many years, and also worked in the Vergennes school district prior to that. If you knew John you knew he was a hard worker. If he wasn’t at work he was looking to haul metal or do odd jobs to stay busy. John never had an easy life and fought many uphill battles especially with his health. Even with stents in his heart and blood clots he continued to work everyday. He was dedicated to every job he took on. John was a good human being, kind hearted, and always willing to lend a hand where he was needed. He knew the value of family and friends and was well loved in the communities he worked and lived. His sense of humor was infectious always making those around him smile. Unfortunately, John fell on hard times financially and has been struggling to find a permanent place to live, and was homeless until just recently. We have reached out to the VA for assistance, as John was a veteran. John took pride in his service to his country. We have also requested assistance through the state but unfortunately they cannot proceed with cremation without the funds up front. As this was unexpected, at this time I just don’t have time or resources to secure the money so quickly. Cremation alone is $2200. Funeral service is more and it would be nice to honor John’s memory with military honors while giving his family some closure during this tragedy.
