John Van Steenbergen

On July 19, 2022 John Van Steenbergen was in a horrible swimming accident at Misquamacutt beach in Rhode Island while having a family beach day with his wife, Linda and children. John was swimming with his 14 year old son Wiley when a big wave took him under and he hit his head, knocking him unconscious. Luckily Wiley brought him to shore and they were able to react quickly. John was taken to Westerly Hospital, where they found out he fractured his C1 & C2 vertebrae. He was then air lifted to Yale Hospital to quickly have surgery to fuse them back together. He is currently still at Yale where he is on a ventilator. It is going to be long road to recovery and we will not know the full impact of the accident for quite some time.

John is from Guilford, CT where he resides with his wife and three children, Wiley, 14 Delia, 13 and Vivienne, 10. They are patiently waiting for their dad to recover and come home.

John Van is so loved and admired by his family and many more. We are all heartbroken by this tragic accident and are hoping and praying for the best.

Linda is working with family and professionals to make the house accessible and comfortable for John. All funds raised will go towards the  benefit of John and the family.

 There will be many, many changes ahead.
