John Pickett vs. ALL
Donation protected
My younger brother, John starting started feeling tired and looking rather pale a few weeks ago. Then he became short of breath. A visit to the family doctor turned into being sent to Christiana Care's free standing Emergency Department on March 20th. There we found out that his hemoglobin was only 2.0 and his white blood cell count was only 1.6. So an ambulance ride up to Christiana hospital and many blood transfusions were in order.
John then had a bone marrow biopsy that Tuesday, March 21st. By the next day we had results. It was Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or ALL. He started chemo therpay that Friday, March 24th, our niece's 18th Birthday.
John will be doing at least 6 months of IV Chemo, the first 6 weeks he won't be able to leave the hospital. This also includes spinal injections of Chemo, because this particular type of leukemia likes to attack the spine. Hopefully after the six months of IV Chemo, if it goes the way the doctors want, he will be switched to a Chemo pill that he will be on for 2 years.
John's oncologist is very hopeful, but obviously this is a stressful time for John and my parents. I do not want financial issues to stress any of them further.
Anyone who knows John knows that he is a simple, kind, loving person. The type of person who is selfless and would literally give the shirt off his back to someone in need. Please if you can give in anyway to help John and my parents that would be amazing!
