John Winkler PKD Polycystic Kidney Disease

Donation protected
Hello! My dad, John Winkler, was born with a genetic disease called polycystic kidney disease. His sister, father, and paternal grandmother all have/ had PKD. On June 25th, John was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure and began dialysis 3x a week at an outpatient center. During this time he continued to work as a union bricklayer.

Our family unexpectedly got good news this weekend when in the middle of the night, a matching kidney became available for him. As a result, he was able to have transplant surgery and is currently recovering at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Since most patients in need of a kidney transplant typically wait years on the list, this unexpected blessing has resulted in some disruption of his daily life. He will be out of work for around three months. We are raising funds to help John with living expenses during his recovery time.

Thank you for taking the time to read about John’s story. We greatly appreciate any and all the support, love, and prayers ❤️
