John's Fight Against Leukemia
Donation protected
The past week has been a whirlwind of information & life changing news. A couple weeks ago John got what he thought was a pesky virus. He wasn't super sick, mostly just tired & easily winded. He would have to rest in the middle of the day, which anyone who knows him knows this is completely out of the norm. John is a trooper! He is a hard worker with a servant's heart that just keeps going & going!
After the symptoms didn't go away he met with a doctor & after ruling out what they thought to be more major issues, they decided to do some blood work last Friday. On Sunday night they got a call with the results & were told to go to the emergency room immediately. His platelets were 1/10th of what they should have been, his white blood cells were 3 times where they should have been and his red blood cells were 1/3 of what they should have been. They gave him a blood transfusion & ran more tests. After three blood transfusions the test results returned.
On Wednesday John was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This was such a shock since he has always been so healthy! His family was told that it is a particularly aggressive disease & that treatment must be started immediately.
John started Chemo yesterday and is doing well so far! We are praying he continues to have no side effects!! He will be on chemo for a week & then will need to stay in the hospital for 3 more weeks because his immune system will be so weak from the chemo. At that point they will decided what the next step is.
John owns his own business, so when he is not working, they are not recieving any income. We would love to help raise money to ease the financial burdon missing over a month of work will cause, but right now our focus is a bit smaller. John & Christine's daughter lives out of state & would like to be here for her parents as they deal with all that comes with something like this. We are trying to raise $500 to cover airline tickets for Bethany & her family's flights here.
Thank you so much for reading this! Any donation will be greatly appreciated!!! Please share this with your friends & agree with us in prayer!
