Johnny B's medical fund

Hi, my name is Tim. I started this fundraiser for my dear nephew and Godson, John Burton and his family, to help them get through this trying time.

Help John’s family with the cost of medical treatment and expenses.

My nephew, John Burton, had recurring headaches and was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor, a hemangiopericytoma, which was removed with brain surgery in 2012. He was monitored with imaging after the surgery, and a recurrence of the tumor was found in 2015, which was removed with a second brain surgery, and he received radiation therapy. In late 2021 the tumor was found to have returned and he received gamma knife radiosurgery to treat it.

In early 2022 he was having indigestion and back pain and a PET/CT scan and MRI showed multiple metastatic spots on his liver, pancreas and spine. He has lost 60 pounds since November 2021, being unable to eat well due to the discomfort caused by the largest tumor on his liver. He has received radiation and chemotherapy in an effort to shrink the tumors. The largest tumor on his liver, however, was inoperable, due to its large blood supply. It is currently being treated locally with chemoembolization and Yttrium-90 radioisotopes.

John has supported his family this entire time while battling cancer, sometimes working two jobs, for 70 hours per week. He worked for the TSA until December 2022 and is now, however, unable to work due to the radioactive Y-90 treatment he is receiving, which sets off the alarms at airport security. He is still waiting for his Social Security Disability to be approved and currently has no income. John has two young sons, Joseph, who just entered college, and Michael, who is a freshman in High School. His wife, Elena, is doing her best to support them and her disabled mother, who also lives with them.

John is a wonderful son, son-in-law, husband, father, nephew, cousin, friend, and an all-around great person. He always has a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone.

Any donation, however small, would help John and his family with the cost of medical treatment and living expenses and would be greatly appreciated.
