Johnny Needs Wheels

Donation protected
A diving accident at age 12 left Johnny a quadraplegic. After a long stay at Shriners Children's Hospital Johnny set about the task of living . Life truly is a daily struggle for Johnny. However his passion for music, his dogs, friends, and family have kept him centered. All of us that know Johnny are blessed by his friendship and music. His vocals and harmonica playing are truly magical. A disability van is imperative for making appointments, shopping, and traveling to spread joy through music. But perhaps more importantly, a disability van will give him an independence and freedom we take for granted as we grab our keys and go. This van would allow Johnny to go places by himself without assistance. We understand this is a big goal. When Johnny was confronted with the idea he immediately said, "But maybe there's someone else with a greater need." Johnny is a humble, hard working, kind man whose life would be changed by an act of kindness such as this.  A quality van could set Johnny up for over a decade. We can do this! We will do this! Stay positive and let's make this happen for Johnny!

Additional information:

Johnny's current van is completely inoperable and beyond the point of quick fixes. To restore his current vehicle is not a viable option. In addition, Johnny is unable to get his electric wheelchair into standard sized vans. While $80,000 seems like a lofty goal, this is shockingly the cost of a fully converted disability vehicle. Our goal is to get Johnny a van that will give him the independence he desires and not require expensive, unrealistic upkeep.

Here is an interesting tutorial on what a full size converted van looks like and how they operate!
