Johns family needs help has Parkinson's disease
Hi my name is Tamara our dear sweet neighbors need your help thank you !!!John and Ruth Thompson, will have been married 38 years May 20, 2021.
Daughters still living at home: Dorothy, 23 and working as an electrician apprentice, and Esther Ruth, who was adopted 11 years ago from Ethiopia.
John was diagnosed with Parkinsonism, unspecified type, May 2019.
Dr. Thompson worked as a professor of physics for 28 1/2 years at two different institutions. He was unable to work past the end of 2019. At the urging of John's doctor to go to a dry climate, the family relocated to Arizona where he subsequently applied for Social Security Disability, but was denied. We are currently appealing this decision. He has appointments with various doctors, and different kinds of therapies, and takes medicines and supplements. One thing he needs is regular dental visits because his gums have become affected by buildup on the teeth since it is very difficult for him to properly care for his teeth. He no longer has any dental insurance since he now is on Medicaid. It takes lots of gasoline and vehicle upkeep to go to the appointments. We stretch our dollars as far as possible, for instance, our vehicle is a 2007 and has more than 213,000 miles on it.
What would be helpful would be the option of renting a house where we could make some modifications in the bathroom to help him, as well as have room to put a special chair in the living area where he could be more comfortable sitting since he is in pain whether he is sitting on sofa or standing, and he can do neither for very long at a time.
