Help My Step-Dad Overcome Medical Debt & Get Back on His Feet!
Hey there,
My name is Josh. I’m a retired military veteran and an electrical technician, and today, I’m reaching out for someone who means the world to me my step-dad, John.

John has been through more than most people could ever imagine. He’s spent his entire life overcoming one health challenge after another, from surviving a workplace accident at 19 that left him in a coma to undergoing over 20 throat surgeries due to scar tissue complications. He’s battled PTSD, a traumatic brain injury, and debilitating convulsions but through it all, he’s fought with everything he’s got.

Fast forward to 2023, after the world started opening back up post-pandemic, John, his wife, his son, and I went to get a new SUV because their old car’s transmission was barely hanging on. While staying at a hotel, a simple accident changed everything again when John slipped in the shower. It was a hard fall, and the next thing we knew, he couldn’t lift his arm. At the ER, X-rays confirmed a fractured arm and a separated shoulder. The doctors said he needed an MRI and a reverse shoulder replacement.

As if that wasn’t enough, while recovering and going through physical therapy, his left knee started giving out. Turns out, the fall had also damaged the meniscus in his knee. The first surgery in February 2024 failed, and now his doctor has told him he needs a full knee replacement in July 2024.

John’s been in and out of hospitals, seeing multiple specialists orthopedic surgeons, ENT doctors for his tracheostomy, heart doctors, neurologists, pain specialists, and more. He’s lost 80 pounds during recovery, had to learn to walk twice, and still, he refuses to give up.

But here’s the reality, these surgeries have come at a huge financial cost. He’s already paid for two out of three, using every last bit of his savings. But the third one? He needs help. He’s drowning in over $50,000 of medical debt, with interest rates skyrocketing past 30%.
Despite trying to qualify for disability, he’s been denied. He hasn’t been able to work since 2007 due to his health, and with the rising cost of living, it’s becoming impossible to keep up.
I’ve seen John fight for his life time and time again. Now, I’m fighting for him.
We’re soliciting for $30,000 to help cover his full knee replacement surgery, hospital bills, and medical expenses.
No amount is too small, every dollar, every share, every act of kindness means the world to us.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping my step-dad get the second chance he deserves.
With gratitude,
Josh & John
