Johnson Family Emergency Fund

One of my favorite things about Cellular Sales is the way that a group of people who work together can CARE so much about the well being and achievements of their peers. The way they pick each other up on tough days, the way they high five on fun days, and the way they listen to one another and become close friends.

Our friend and teammate Akiya Johnson has been and still is an incredible steward of that culture. Akiya wouldn't hesitate to drop anything he was doing to come to the aid of any of us if we were truly in need. Although Akiya would offer assistance, as a hardworking and proud individual he would never ask for it if he himself needed the help.

This month has been an incredibly trying time for Akiya and his family. A little over a week ago, he discovered that his house had been attacked by Toxic mold in his HVAC system. This mold, which spreads through the air, is very hard to kill and as a result, the Johnson family could lose nearly all of their possessions and will need to do extensive salvaging of their home. This is possibly a major contributing factor to some health issues that their family has already been experiencing.

Everything in the house has to go. Clothes, books (we all know Akiya is a huge nerd), furniture, and of course most importantly their living space...in fact, since last Sunday the Johnson family has left their home and all their possessions to move in to a family member’s basement until the home can be completely tested and treated.

Costs - The reality of a toxic mold attack is terrifying and the prognosis is bleak at best. All in Total the damages could exceed $20,000 just to be treated. Add in lost valuables and the total losses could be in excess of $40-50,000. Unfortunately, most home insurance policies within Kentucky do not cover mold infestations.  This is one of the main reasons this GoFundMe was created.

All of us have been helped by Akiya at some point in our lives, let’s try to repay the favor by helping him and his family get back on their feet.

The goal is to raise $5,000 by December 10 so that we can SURPRISE him and his family at the Christmas Party. It would be  AWESOME if we came together and blew past this goal.

Giving is a selfless act that makes life meaningful. Let's all help our great friend in his time of need!!
