Johnson Family in need of help: Deer Damage

Today we had the most unimaginable morning. A giant buck jumped through our front window and ran amok through our entire house. Deer did not go down easy, it took half of MP police force and our neighbors bow to finally take him down. Insurance is covering the cost of the window replacement and structural damage but is refusing (at this point) to cover the clean up or any of the internal contents of our home. Due to the amount of blood, we need a professional cleaning service to handle it as it’s labeled as a biohazard. It’ll be a multi day clean up project for Hammer Restoration. They said it was one of the worst they’ve seen due to the officers killing the deer in the house.

contents ruined include a couch, a sectional, two recliners, our living room area rug, curtains, our babys crib and toddler bed, dressers, a small shorter bookshelf, bathroom rug, shower curtain, comforter, and all of my personal clothes. Hammer Restoration is working to salvage anything and everything but the did had to be put down in our home. The flooring in our entire upstairs will most likely need to be replaced.

If insurance covers more than expected we will return any unnecessary donations. The damage to our personal contents is insurmountable. Pictures truly don’t describe the aftermath of this event. We are a hardworking family with baby #3 coming early January. We just bought this home last October and can’t cover all of these immediate costs. We would be so grateful for any help at all as we problem solve and prioritize. We are also so grateful to our local police force who came immediately and did everything they could to contain the buck and keep everyone safe.
