Help John Walk Again
Donation protected
Earlier this month, John fell out of his wheelchair. Considering he is constantly struggling to get adequate durable medical equipment it would have been an ordinary accident, except that on this particular day John had been enjoying a fire. When he fell, his wheel chair, which he was seatbelted into, caught fire. Fortunately John had people nearby and the response was quick, but John recieved third degree burns on 20% of his body. While John is a very strong person and keeps an amazing attitude through hard times, this will be a very difficult recovery. He has had three skin grafts so far and it's uncertain if he will need more. The burns that he recieved are on his back, left side and abdomen. This is an area that is in constant contact with things when you use a wheel chair, but John has always wanted to walk again anyway. We would like to try to make that dream come true for John.
There is a device called a Second Step Gait Harness System, which essentially allows people with limited mobility to walk while keeping their weight supported. John would love to have one of these, but it costs $7,358, which is pretty far out of budget.
We want to help John get this device so that he can finally achieve his dream of walking again and so that he can use a mobility device that will not make contact with his injuries and allow for a less painful recovery process.
You can also donate to Quality Connections and mark your donation for this cause. Quality Connections is a qualifying charitable organization, so you can claim an Arizona tax credit of up to $400 as an individual, or $800 as a married couple, while helping John!
