Born on March 28, Andromache has had a rough start to life, to say the least. Towards the end of my pregnancy we found out our daughter would have Down Syndrome. At first, we considered ourselves blessed that we were able to take her home. Turns out, there were major misdiagnoses. On May 17 she was finally released from the hospital, after a one month stay, during which 3 heart murmurs were found. On June 20 Andi flatlined for the first time. This is when we learned that her airway was 1/3rd the width it should be (2mm wide instead of 6mm). On June 25th she was rushed into surgery after flatlining for the second time as her condition was so critical. As of today, Andi is still on a ventilator. She has failed extubation 3 times, and we have no choice but to agree to a tracheotomy.
This has been an extremely difficult time for our family. And now with the tracheotomy, we have to go through a month long training session. Not to mention all the outpatient procedures needed once we can bring her home. We are only at the beginning of the journey and so much has happened! We're reaching out to compassionate hearts like yours to help fund Andromache's critical surgery and outpatient care. Your support will give our brave little fighter a chance at a healthy, happy future.
