Arianna is only 4 years old and the youngest daughter of Ryan and Raisa Taft. On Wednesday, May 20th 2020, Arianna was brought to Hasbro Children's Hospital for a lump on her side. Doctors quickly figured out she had a tumor on her kidney that needed to be removed quickly. After an ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI, the doctors believe she may have Wilms' cancer, which is most common in children ages 3-5. After further testing, they discovered more masses on her other kidney, lungs, and some lymph nodes near her kidney. Surgery was scheduled for Friday where they removed her entire kidney successfully, had a biopsy done of the tumor, and a line placed for her future treatments. The biopsy results are not in yet, so they are still not 100% on what her diagnosis is yet. Regardless, the plan is for chemo and radiation treatments. The timeframe isn't definitive yet either, but she will have a journey ahead of her. She has been stronger than any child should have to be. She has been so tough through this whole entire ordeal already, with both parents by her side the whole way. With that being said, they are both taking time out of work to not only care for Arianna, but for Aaliyah and Adrian as well. With Covid-19 going on, it is even more important that they all stay healthy. They both need to stay away from the public and large groups, which is impossible with both of their jobs. The hospital bills and other expenses are already weighing heavy over everyone, and it would be great to support them.
The hospital has been so supportive and caring through everything. From the nurses to doctors to social workers, everyone has had Arianna as their top priority and worked together to keep her as comfortable as possible. Words aren't enough to describe the thanks they deserve.
The amount of prayers and support from everyone around her has been tremendous. We can;t thank you enough. I will add updates as they come and try to keep everyone informed. Also, if you would like to send Arianna a card or anything else, feel free to reach out to me for an address. She would love a card!
We know this is a hard time for everyone, but if you can donate, or even share this post, it will be appreciated. Please keep all involved in your prayers, they are being heard!
