I'm not sure many of you are aware of the challenges Mary, Ben and the kids have been enduring over the past few months. Diagnosed with cancer after his colonoscopy in early 2024, Ben has been fighting the Big C hard since January and it has really been taking a toll on him physically.
Now, the good news is feedback from his physicians has been trending in the right direction every step of the way, and for that, we are all so grateful.
The hard news is--Ben's availability to work due to multiple doctor appointments, as well as his base ability to work due to the treatments he has been going through, has left The Petersons in a bit of a hole financially speaking.
Food trains have been helpful and Natalie is putting in lots of hours at her new job at Dutch Bros to pitch in, but Mary can only knock out so many massages to help bridge that gap.
She makes time to not only get Ben to his myriad appointments, but also so she can be there to provide a source of comfort and perspective when any news comes down the line.
Again, that news (so far) has been very positive...which has provided a ray of light throughout this long, dark swamp they are navigating (and we all pray that it continues as such).
However, due to several weeks of radiation therapy, an unexpected lymph node surgery as well as chemo and another possible surgery starting next month...Ben has been, and will be, unable to do the work he loves.
All that said, Mary, Ben and the girls give love to their family, friends and community daily. It is my hope that some of you who are seeing this will consider showing them some of that love now when they could really use it.
So, if you are able, and you are inclined, please consider throwing a few dollars in the proverbial hat to help off-set all that they are currently carrying.
