Join Brittany's Fight against Hodgkin's Lymphoma
Donation protected
While I was trying to avoid a virus, I somehow contracted a disease. On June 15th, I was diagnosed with Stage 2A Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It is a cancer of the immune system and as it progresses, it limits the body to fight infection. While it is common for people to be diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma between the ages of 18 to 35, it is rare with fewer than 200,000 cases per year. So it is a shock and I can admit I am terrified. I noticed a lump on my neck at the end of April and a few doctor visits, a CT scan, and a biopsy later led to my diagnosis.
I saw what the rest of 2020 had in store for me. A lot of doctors visits, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, the side effects of those which is nausea, fatigue, the hair loss (which is the one thing I am least looking forward to), and not going to have that normal life. My life was already turned upside down with being quarantined and having no job, so why did this have to happen? But anything can happen, anything happens all the time...
BUT I will fight for that normal life as much as I can. I have good friends, a boyfriend, and my family to help me get through those hard days I will inevitably have. I know it is a rough time for everyone financially, but I am asking for support in any way, shape, or form. In no way am I expecting it, but I’d appreciate it. Even if it is just your kind words, whatever it may be to help me get through.
