Anyone who has met Chris knows him to be as kind as he is determined, as funny as he is thoughtful, and always ready to have a good time.
He and his wife, Sarah, met in York, England while attending Bible school abroad. Together they have traveled to Thailand, Spain, Israel, and Uganda sharing their faith and their love for people both with each other and anyone else that came across their path. After a beautiful summer wedding in August of 2014, Chris and Sarah settled down in his hometown of Sandpoint, Idaho, where Chris began traveling monthly, working for the family business with his brothers and father and volunteering with the youth of the community when home.
On January 10th, 2019 Chris went out bowling with his wife to celebrate his 27th birthday. That night, he realized that there was something terribly wrong with the function of his right hand.
After almost 6 months of testing and waiting, on July 19th, 2019, Chris received the kind of phone call no 27-year-old expects to receive - "We have your results, and we need you to come in right away. We're so sorry."
On Chris and Sarah's fifth year wedding anniversary Chris went in for his brain biopsy and was diagnosed with an anaplastic astrocytoma, a cancerous brain tumor. The position of this tumor in his brain makes it inoperable and unable to be removed by surgery.
From there it has been a whirlwind of emotions, appointments, physical and financial difficulties, testing, and treatments.
Because the tumor is inoperable, the only treatments available to him are chemotherapy and radiation. There have been multiple tests and trials with different kinds of treatments, many which eventually led to complicated and frightening side effects like Gran Mal seizures all through the month of December 2019.
In January of 2020, nearly a year after the first realization of his symptoms, Chris began receiving chemotherapy for 5 days every 22 days and an Avastin infusion every 2 weeks, which is intended to slow and shrink the growth of the tumor in order to prolong Chris' time here with us.
Even before the final diagnosis in June 2019, Chris had to quit traveling for work because of the side effects of what would be diagnosed as a tumor. As you can imagine, this was a difficult decision because being sick in this way means many extra, unforeseeable expenses - supplements, medications, hospital visits, travel to and from Seattle, treatments, rehabilitation etc. - most of which are not covered completely by insurance.
Due to the loss of mobility in his dominant hand and seizures peppered randomly throughout his treatment, it is not clear when Chris will be well enough to return to work. With an unfortunate situation like this, there is just not enough financial support that can be generated by 2 people alone, even with insurance. Also with the need for full time assistance his wife Sarah is not able to have a regular job and create any side income.
This is why Chris and Sarah need our help and support.
Chris and Sarah are followers of Jesus Christ and believe in His goodness and faithfulness in all things, even in the darkest moments of our lives. They are believing for a miracle, for Chris to be completely healed of this cancerous tumor. And a miracle is truly what they need!
Please pray for Chris and his wife and their families. And please consider making a donation to bless them in this difficult and uncertain time.
Let's all join Chris and Sarah in this fight and let them know with our prayers and with our finances that we have their backs. Your gift and the love and support that go with it are not insignificant and mean the world to Chris and his wife.
We thank you in advance for your generous donations and prayers.
