On June 20th, 2022 our Mother Diane was diagnosed with Ovarian / Peritoneal cancer. She had the option to precipitate in a research study provided by NYU Langone Medical Center, and she agreed to be a subject. The treatment consists of the research drug GEN 1 and Chemotherapy.
After Diane had two different IV catheters placed for her treatments she had complications , which delayed treatment for a couple of weeks while she recovered in the hospital .
July 18th, Cycle 1, Day 1 resulted in an immediate and severe allergic reaction to the chemo medication. The nurse stopped the treatment , but Diane continued to feel burning in her chest . She lost consciousness , and soon was soon experiencing cardiac arrest. After 8 minutes of emergency treatment her heart began to beat again .
After a trip to the ER, and a short time on ventilator Diane awoke with not much memory of what had occurred. Diane was released from the hospital a few days later , and was feeling better considering what she had just been though.
The Oncologist called, and asked her if she was comfortable giving chemotherapy another try the following week. Diane was hesitant , but she agreed to give chemo another try with a different medication.
Cycle 1, Day 1 -part two - She entered the fusion center with anxiety , but was determined to fight this disease. With family by her side, and prayers from many, she started Chemotherapy. It was a success.
She responded well to treatment , and has been doing well for the past two weeks.
About Diane , Diane is a Mother of three , and a Grandmother of five whom she adores . She worked as a Nanny for 40 years , and always enjoyed caring for children . She worked a majority of those years as a single Mother , but always found time to spend quality time with her own children.
Diane enjoys life , and is very spiritual. She has always had a positive outlook on life , which has helped her during this hardship.
Unfortunately, since being diagnosed with cancer she can no longer work . We are grateful for any support with the costs associated with medical treatment. Any amount donated will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for reading Diane's story . We will post updates on Diane's continued fight against cancer , and also how your help has given her relief from the financial burdens .
