My name is Ezri Rain Terbush and I am raising funds for my best friend and constant companion of the past thirteen years, Kat. Kat has recently been diagnosed with Spinal Cord Disease, and for those of you who are in the know, you know that Spinal Cord Disease is a blanket diagnosis for symptoms potentially caused by several different neurological disorders that we are in the process of testing for. If you have a loved one who has been through the diagnosis process for a neurological disorder before, you know that the process is a long and tedious one. There are days when Kat wants to give up but she always picks herself back up and continues forward in the hope for answers and eventually a treatment plan.
Kat is currently unemployed and while she hopes to get on disability eventually, that process takes time and may require an additional diagnosis, a diagnosis that we are still working to determine. She has exhausted the benefits provided by her former employer and she cannot afford COBRA coverage. While she was able to pay some of her medical expenses using Colorado's FAMLI+ program, she has exhausted her allocation for the year and is searching for employment while we try to determine her eligibility for unemployment. In the meantime, we have looming medical bills with additional medical expenses on the horizon as we continue to look for answers.
I have taken on her expenses but I am a parent and already a provider to my three kids and their youngest sibling, so my contributions can only cover so much. I am working as an Uber Eats driver in the evenings as I have time to spare in my already busy schedule but my availability is limited and the gig economy is only a bandaid for our current financial situation. As we attempt to pay off the medical costs she has incurred since the beginning of the year, we have very little wiggle room to pay them off in the time needed. While we look for long-term, sustainable solutions, we would like to ask those of you who may have resources to spare if you might be able to help us pay off the mounting expenses so that we don't find ourselves falling behind. We both realize that the current economic climate is not conducive to giving much, if anything at all, but every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated. We appreciate your kindness and thank all of you who can contribute in our time of need.
