Just a few months ago Gabby was an energetic 23 year old. As a recent graduate of Sage College she was living out her dream as a pediatric nurse. As a former cheerleader and cheerleading coach, her high energy, optimism and love of children lent itself perfectly to her occupation. She was a hardworking and dedicated young professional with an exciting future ahead of her until it all came to an abrupt halt.
Back in November Gabby was experiencing some neurological symptoms and ended up in the Emergency room. After some testing and procedures, she was unable to move her legs with decreased sensation for 2 weeks while admitted into the hospital. After many treatments and monitoring in the hospital, she was then transferred to a rehabilitation hospital for 2 more weeks in order to strengthen her body and learn to walk again. She worked hard doing strengthening exercises and after attempting to walk on her own, a new complication arose preventing further acute rehab at that time. She is currently home navigating life in a wheelchair, working with Neurology, Physical and Occupational therapy, and holistic therapies to gain her full body strength back and to also find the underlying cause of her neurological symptoms. She is currently undergoing these therapies, tests, and follow up appointments with specialists.
Obviously during this time Gabby is unable to work. While it is important for her recovery that she remain positive, the financial stress of the situation is mounting. Gabby had to move back home so that she would have the help that she needed while adjusting to life in a wheelchair. She had to pay for the equipment and install of a wheelchair ramp at her parents as well as the wheelchair itself. Her medical expenses include dozens of copays as well as tests, second opinions and therapies that are not covered by her insurance. Her regular monthly bills are also continuing to come in; student loans, car payments, insurance, etc. Unfortunately her landlord is also not letting her out of her lease so she has to continue to pay rent even though she is living at home.
Gabby and her family appreciate any and all support you are able to give. In addition to this GoFundMe campaign we will be hosting a fundraiser at The Franklin Plaza on March 3, 2019 from 2 - 6pm. Details can be found here https://www.facebook.com/events/333400337272388/
