Graham's fight against Motor Neurone Disease (MND/ALS)

A little goes a long way in helping Graham and his family say NO to Motor Neuron Disease
Imagine… you are 38 years young and an incredibly proud and committed father working hard to set your equally young family up with their forever home... and almost overnight you learn you have between 2 to 5 years left to spend with them.
This unimaginable moment is a reality for Graham, his wife Jacinta, and their beautiful children Hugh (5) and Novella (4).
Graham, a family man, football player and friend to so many, thought that he had hurt his back playing footy. This sore back was diagnosed as 'whiplash' from a footy collision but after hardly any improvement and Graham losing coordination and slight slurring in his speech, Jacinta insisted on further medical investigations. After worsening symptoms, Graham was able to finally see a neurologist and have a myriad of tests done.
On the 19th of January 2023, Jacinta and Graham received the devastating news. Graham was diagnosed with ALS, a highly aggressive form of Motor Neuron Disease with no known cure and an average life expectancy of 2-5 years post-diagnosis.
The effects of ALS mean that Graham can expect to experience rapid degeneration of his voluntary movements and will lose the ability to walk, talk, eat and eventually breathe.
Graham is extremely strong-willed and will give this a good fight – determined to do everything in his power to slow the degeneration.
Instead of accepting his fate, Graham and Jacinta started researching how to fight this diagnosis and allow Graham to be with his family for as long as possible - something we all take for granted. Stem Cell treatments have proven to help slow the degeneration of MND and they are available in Bangkok, Thailand.
After speaking to another lady whose husband had received these treatments and responded extremely well - so well that he wanted to live there to get it every year! The Hibberts decided that this was something they needed to do, even though it would only be financially viable for them to do this for Graham only once.
So, step 1 of Graham’s plan involves travelling for stem cell therapy in Bangkok, which is an upfront out-of-pocket expense of $40,000 AU.
Anyone who knows Graham and Jacinta knows that they are the most generous, selfless and humble people that you will ever meet. They are the first on the scene to help others.
A community approach to support and timely treatments can help people with MND/ALS live better for longer. Your donation, no matter how small, will go a long way to providing a better quality of life for Graham and his family.
If you can please find it in your hearts, donate today and help Graham fulfil his life’s purpose - to provide for the best possible future for his wife and children.
