Join Hands for John's Cancer Battle

My name is Kellie, my dad is John.

I've started this GoFundMe in hopes of helping my dad and my mom hopefully being able to pay their medical bills.

My dad (John) was recently diagnosed with prostate and bladder cancer. Not your typical bladder cancer, but a rare skin cancer in the bladder vs an invasive muscular cancer.

This means that the chances of cancer spreading are very probable. His team of doctors in Peoria has referred him to the University of Chicago to see a urologist.

I drove my parents up to meet with the doctor who determined the best plan would be to remove his bladder and his prostate totally. This will leave him with an ileostomy (a bag outside his body) to dispose of urine.

His surgery is scheduled for July 26th.

My dad is 66 years old and is just about to retire. He should be looking forward to that. Instead, we are here. This all came suddenly and unexpectedly. There will be multiple trips to Chicago that will be needed for pre-op, surgery, recovery, and post-op.

The financial strain this comes with is so heavy at times. I would love to see the people he loves and cares about to come together to make this a little less stressful.
