GoFundMe Campaign: Join Hands to Save Barbara - A Lifetime of Giving, Now in Need
Dear Friends and Kind Souls,
Hi, I am Kriss, sister to Barbara Montague Graham. I come to you representing her family (husband, children, grandchildren), asking for your kindness and generosity in a critical time of need. My sister, Barbara, a beacon of hope and compassion to countless people over the last 50 years, is battling for her life. We are in urgent need of $50,000 to provide for her extensive medical and caregiving needs. Your support can make a tangible difference in saving Barbara’s life.
Barbara’s Lifelong Mission of Compassion:
Early Years of Dedication: Barbara's journey of selflessness began in Horsham, Pennsylvania, at Hatboro Horsham High School, where she taught and nurtured children with special needs. Her passion for helping the vulnerable was unmistakable.
A Heart for the Homeless Children: Moving to Aldersgate in Willow Grove, she became a beacon of hope, finding loving homes for children awaiting adoption or foster care, tirelessly working to ensure every child had a family.
Supporting Grandparents in Need: In her private practice, Barbara founded a service for grandparents raising their grandchildren, filling a crucial gap in the community and providing much-needed support to families in unconventional setups.
Rehabilitating Incarcerated Mothers: At Epiphany House in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Barbara worked miracles with mothers who had been incarcerated, guiding them through the process of rebuilding their lives and reuniting with their children. Her dedication was so profound that the Mercy Sisters honored her as a lay nun, a testament to her life mirroring the work of the nuns.
Ensuring Foster Care Safety: Her role at Catholic Charities involved safeguarding the welfare of foster children, a responsibility she fulfilled with utmost dedication, earning her state-wide recognition and heartfelt gratitude from many families.
Barbara’s Dire Health Crisis:
Barbara is courageously fighting chronic kidney disease, heart disease requiring surgery, debilitating diabetes with neuropathy, anemia needing constant blood transfusions, and severe asthma coupled with apnea.
Her condition has rendered her wheelchair-bound, dependent on a home dialysis machine, an oxygen breathing machine, and other essential medical equipment.
The Overwhelming Home Situation:
After almost 2 months in the hospital and in rehabilitation Barbara returns to her 82-year-old husband Willie, himself recuperating from surgery, in a home environment that is struggling to cope.
Their three children, despite working full-time, are doing their best to provide care, but the situation calls for professional homecare nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists.
The Gap in Medical Coverage:
While Medicare covers a portion of the expenses, a significant shortfall remains in affording the necessary care, equipment, and specialized transportation to frequent medical appointments for both Barbara and Willie.
Barbara’s life has been a testament to the power of selfless service and unconditional love. She has uplifted lives, mended broken families, and given hope to the hopeless. Now, in her hour of need, she needs your support. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to giving Barbara the care and love she has so selflessly given to others.
Please help us support a true hero. Let’s come together to give back to someone who has given so much to the world.
With deepest gratitude and hope, Kriss and the loving family of Barbara.
