Join Ima Thibodeaux's Village in Her Time of Need

Welcome everyone to this support page for our beloved momma, Ima Thibodeaux. 

All updates will be posted at the bottom of this campaign.

Many of you have asked where you can take items for Ima and family. We request that you drop off any food, cards, flowers or other items you may want her or her family to receive at her store La Boheme (743 Saluda Avenue) in Five Points. The store will ensure that she and her family receive the items.

For those of you who do not know, Mom is in the hospital right now due to multiple blockages from a blood clot in her heart that broke away and traveled to her legs. These blockages have prevented blood flow from reaching her feet. She is awaiting the amputation of both her legs - a critical surgery that will drastically alter the rest of her life as well as the lives of our family. 

In the early hours of Friday, June 7th emergency services were called because Ima was experiencing pain and the inability to walk or feel her legs. Once tests were run and she was seen by a vascular team, it was determined that emergency surgery would need to take place so that blockages in the arteries of both of her legs could be cleared to let blood flow return to her legs and feet. However, on Saturday, June 8th, after surgery (and 24 hours of observation), the doctors concluded that both of her lower legs and feet had been without blood flow for too long and would need to be amputated.

We know we will have many adjustments to make, and at this time we are still assessing what exactly that means and what we will need. One way to help us as we prepare for these changes is to make a donation right here on this GoFundMe page so we can help cover bills and ensure that she will have the care and quality of life / accessibility changes that need to be implemented at home or elsewhere.

Update 6/8/24:

We are waiting to find out when the amputation will happen. Right now it is dependent on how her kidneys are coping with her current condition. If they are doing poorly then she will be scheduled for surgery tomorrow Sunday, June 9th. If her kidneys are doing well then they will schedule her for surgery on Monday June 10th.

Update 6/9/24:

Her doctors have said that her kidneys are doing well. Because of this she will end up having the surgery tomorrow on Monday, June 10th.
