JOIN IN HELPING SEAN HUNT WITH KIDNEY TRANSPLANT

My name is Michelle

I am creating this fundraiser to help my dear friend, Sean and his wife Nicole in their time of need.
Sean has helped countless people over the years whether it be through friendship, mentorship to students while working in private education for over 10 years, work colleagues and parishioners at his church and needs our help now.
It all started with Nicole setting up a Dr's appt for Sean in June of 2022. He had not slept for over a week, had shortness of breath and was very weak. The day after the appointment Sean received a phone call that changed his life forever.
The call was from the Dr. and he was told that he needed to go to the nearest hospital IMMEDIATELY.

Within a few hours of arriving at the hospital Sean was given the sad news that he was in active heart and kidney failure. His organs were shutting down rapidly.
Sean was in the hospital for several weeks and was finally able to go home. Today Sean is on dialysis several times a week. He has End Stage Kidney Failure (Stage 5) which cannot be reversed and Sean cannot survive without this lifesaving treatment several times per week. Ultimately the ideal outcome is for a kidney transplant which will dramatically increase life expectancy.

The good news here is that Sean has put in the work and is now approved to start the process in receiving his transplant! This has meant over a year and a half of Medication, diet, 4 surgical procedures to cure heart rhythm and get his BP under control.

Another piece of good news is that Nicole will be donating her kidney directly and if she is not a match then they will participate in the kidney exchange program. If you are curious in the process or procedure, I have included a link in the bottom of this post.

Now that Sean is able to get the transplant, I am asking for assistance and turning to the community because they are not able to do it alone.

Earlier this year, Sean lost his job and cannot work due to his treatment schedule taking up 4-5hrs a day, several days a week. They have downsized and sold as much as they can. Disability (applied for) is an option but can be several months to a year away (crazy).

Nicole will be starting her application to donate her kidney in March 2024, she must be 2 years from the end of her last radiation treatment . This due to her being diagnosed with breast cancer in Oct 2021 and fought for recovery and was finally cancer free in March of 2022.

The recovery period for Sean can take up to 3-5 months after the transplant. Nicole will take less time to recover but she will be out of work for several weeks.

ALL money donated will go directly to Sean and Nicole to help reduce the financial burden and stress of medical expenses, everyday necessities and future expenses. The immunosuppressant therapy alone costs $21,000 to $29,000 per year after insurance. The upshot is that after the transplant, recovery and taking a few medications from then on Sean adds years to his life and can cease Dialysis, living an almost completely normal life.
