Join Jurek in Empowering Rideshare Drivers

Greetings to all! My name is Jurek Martinez, and I am Co-Founder of Miami Rideshare Union.

This union was created with the purpose of studying in more depth the problems that affect thousands of rideshare drivers throughout the USA. We also study possible solutions that can help improve drivers' earnings and provide stability to service costs.

Currently, both drivers and customers are suffering abuse from companies like Uber and Lyft. Companies that promised benefits for drivers and customers, but currently the only beneficiaries are them and the auto insurance companies taking large portions of the profits.

All the work we have done has been done out of passion and without obtaining benefits in return. It is enough for us to know that we can change the economic conditions of thousands of people. Every day in our group we hear stories of people who are about to lose their cars, who cannot pay their car insurance, who cannot even cover their basic expenses. It is part of our job to listen, and we feel that it is our responsibility to be the voice of all those people who are suffering abuse from companies like Uber and Lyft in our community.

We need change and the only way to achieve it is by being united. We all know that uniting thousands or millions of drivers is not an easy task at all. First, we need to centralize communication massively. Many people currently use WhatsApp, Telegram and other applications to communicate between them. The great disadvantage of these applications is that they divide the masses into small fractions. They also lack of tools that are very important.

For this reason, Miami Rideshare Union has created the StrikeOn mobile application. This mobile application can unite millions of drivers across the country. It has different features that are beneficial for drivers and our common fight.

The features are as follows

- A section for news related to rideshare. Keeping drivers informed is essential.

- A section to make calls for protests in alert mode. The alerts reach the phones of all drivers who have the app installed as push notifications. The protests that we seek to promote are peaceful, without the need to go to a specific place or have a physical presence. Drivers should only turn off their driver apps for the duration requested.

- A section where drivers can communicate with each other by State. The application has a system within it very similar to Facebook. In groups by State, people can post photos and videos, also comment on them and like them. They can also add friends to their profiles. Finally, the system allows users to put their profile in private mode, this way no one knows who you are.

Other functions may be added in the future to the application to make it a multipurpose space.

With your help, we will be able to pay the cost of the first year of the mobile app services. The app was already created, we just need to pay Wix for the membership to host the app.

The estimated costs are divided as follows

We must cover the expenses of the app, app hosting, storage, some app functions for unlimited use, etc. This costs around $3328

We must pay Apple Store and Play Store developer accounts. $200 the first year.

About $1000 to add extra features to the app to make it work nationwide.

Gofundme takes about $500 in taxes from the $5000.

Esta unión fue creada con el propósito de estudiar más a profundidad los problemas que afectan a miles de conductores de viajes compartidos en todo USA. También estudiamos posibles soluciones que puedan ayudar a mejorar las ganancias de los conductores y ofrecer una estabilidad a los costos de los servicios.

Actualmente tanto los conductores como los clientes están sufriendo los abusos de compañías como Uber y Lyft. Compañías que prometieron beneficios para conductores y clientes pero actualmente los unicos beneficiados son ellos y las companías de seguros de auto llevandose grandes partes de las ganancias.

Todo el trabajo que hemos realizado lo hemos hecho por pasión y sin obtener beneficios a cambio. A nosotros nos es suficiente saber que podemos cambiar las condiciones economicas de miles de personas. Cada día en nuestro grupo escuchamos historias de personas que están a punto de perder sus autos, que no pueden pagar los seguros de sus autos, que no pueden cubrir siquiera sus gastos básicos. Es parte de nuestro trabajo escuchar y sentimos que es nuestra responsabilidad ser la voz de todas esas personas que estan sufriendo los abusos de compañias como Uber y Lyft.

Necesitamos un cambio y la unica manera de lograrlo es estando unidos. Todos sabemos que unir a miles o millones de conductores no es una tarea facil en lo absoluto. Primero necesitamos centralizar la comunicación de manera masiva. Muchas personas utilizan actualmente WhatsApp, Telegram y otras aplicaciones. La gran desventaja de estas aplicaicones es que dividen las masas en pequeñas fracciones. Tambien carecen de herramientas que son muy importantes.

Por esta razon Miami Rideshare Union ha creado la aplicación StrikeOn. Esta aplicación móvil puede unir a millones de conductores en todo el país. Cuenta con diferentes caracteristicas que son beneficiosas para los conductores y nuestra pelea común.

Las características son las siguientes

- Una sección para noticias relacionadas con el rideshare. Mantener informados a los conductores es de mucha importancia.

- Una sección para hacer llamados a protestas en modo de alertas. Las alertas llegan a los teléfonos de todos los conductores que tengan instalada la app como push notifications. Las protestas que buscamos promover son pacíficas, sin necesidad de ir a algún lugar en específico o tener presencia fisica. Los conductores solo deben apagar sus aplicaciones de conductor por el tiempo que se les pida.

- Una sección para que los conductores se puedan comunicar entre ellos por Estado. La aplicación tiene un sistema dentro muy parecido a Facebook. En los grupos por Estado las personas pueden postear fotos, videos y además comentar en ellos y dar me gusta. También pueden agregar amigos a sus perfiles. Por último, el sistema les permite a los usuarios poner su perfil en modo privado, de esta manera nadie sabe quien eres.

Otras funciones pueden ser agregadas en el futuro a la aplicación para convertirla en un espacio con múltiples propósitos.

Con su ayuda podremos pagar el costo del primer año de los servicios de la app móvil. Ya la app está creada, solo falta pagarle a Wix la membresía para alojar la app.

Los costos estimados se dividen de la siguiente manera

Debemos cubrir los gastos de la app, alojamiento de la app, almacenamiento, algunas funciones de la app para uso ilimitado, etc. Esto cuesta alrededor de $3328

Debemos pagar las cuentas de desarrolladores de Apple Store y Play Store. $200 el primer año.

Alrededor de $1000 para agregar funciones extras a la aplicación para que funcione en todo el país.
