Join Kara & Karen's Family Quest

As some of you know, we've spent most of 2024 trying to grow our family. Content warning/spoiler alert: it's going poorly.

Short version: after several rounds of the option our insurance covers, we're reaching the point where our options move from "yikes, this is spendy" to "eyewateringly expensive" and "maybe cost prohibitive." We are happy to share details about what procedures and options consist of outside of social media spaces, especially if anyone else is engaged in a similar process. In the meantime, we're sharing (oversharing?) for several reasons:

First, we need your (continued) prayers & vibes & good thoughts and whatever else you can offer. This is hard. It's the world's shittiest, most demoralizing rollercoaster. Pray for success, but also for hope. Pray that families continue to have the options they need.

Second, if you have the willingness & means and would like to help us financially - even if that's just $5 for a waiting room coffee - suffice it to say we'll accept with gratitude and thanks. We'd like to think we'll be okay at parenting, should we get there. Or, if you'd rather work with us outside of gofundme, please let either of us know.

Third, a bunch of folks have been deeply generous in sharing their experiences with us, and while we were obviously not likely to wind up accidentally pregnant, we want to normalize assisted reproduction. It's much, much more common than you think for families of all kinds. Especially right now, that acknowledgement feels important.
